Rublev Colours Cyprus Raw Umber Medium is a single pigment, natural earth watercolour made from iron and manganese oxides sourced from Cyprus. This Series 1 colour is a semi-transparent, medium-grained umber with good tinting strength, ideal for building luminous shadows, warm neutral mixes, and subtle glazing in watercolour painting.

Ground in traditional gum arabic with no added stabilisers, Cyprus Raw Umber Medium rewets cleanly and responds beautifully to water for everything from rich masstone washes to soft, airy gradients. Use it for landscapes, architecture, botanical studies, and portrait underpainting where you want believable earth tones without overpowering other pigments. It is rated ASTM Lightfastness I, making it a dependable choice for archival watercolour work.

Tip: If you notice natural separation in the tube, knead gently before use and mix on the palette with a little water to reach your preferred consistency.
