Rublev Colours Pozzuoli Red is a semi-transparent, deep orange-red earth colour made from natural red ochre sourced from quarries in Northern Italy. Based on iron oxide (Colour Index PR102), it offers warm undertones, a “long” brushing feel, and excellent permanence—ideal for classical earth palettes, underpainting, and nuanced, naturalistic colour work.
With a naturally lower tinting strength, Pozzuoli Red is easy to control in mixes (great for skin, terracotta notes, and atmospheric warms) and can be pushed into luminous, earthy glazes without feeling synthetic. Like other additive-free oils, a little oil separation can occur—simply knead the tube before use to re-homogenise.
